WIP Updates + May Goals

Hey you party people!

Okay, I'm sorry about that. It felt like a good thing and now I realize it's not. Let's move on. How are things going for you? Are you still writing? If you're not, it's fine. This whole pandemic has really changed how things have been for a lot of people. It's a seriously weird time for all of us.

I find that I've been going in and out of how I've been feeling. Some of the time, I'm feeling super on top of everything. I get a ton of words, clean up areas that need some deeper cleaning, get work outs done, cook an amazing meal, and so much more. Then, there are days where I feel like I've been hit by a truck. My motivation is nonexistent, I have high anxiety, we end up getting food to go, I spend my entire day watching videos or playing on my phone, and generally just wallow.

I think that's okay. This time is completely new to all of us and our brains and bodies don't really know how to deal with this. I think that knowing that you need more rest than usual and that your personal definition of being productive needs to change is the best we can do during this time. I don't really believe we can "achieve" balance in our lives, but I feel like this whole situation is showing me exactly what balance would look like within my life.

That being said, let me update you on where I'm at with my work in progress! So, during the days when I'm up to it, I have officially gotten to the halfway point of Guardian of Spirits - Book 4. I'm actually quite a bit farther than halfway. I'm sitting at 25,056 words for this project. Now, that would be impressive by itself, but in the month of April, I also finished my first draft of Guardian of Spirits - Book 3, because I didn't finish it in March.

So that means for the month of April, I - finished a draft of a project, got over halfway on a second project, and wrote a total of 39,045 words. A little disappointed that I didn't hit the full 40,000 word mark, but that's only because I love round numbers.

My goals for May:

- Finish draft 1 of Book 4

- Read the prequel

- Read Book 1

- Read Book 2

- Read Book 3

- Read Book 4

Essentially, I'd like to read through the entire series and makes notes on all the edits I'm going to need to do. I'd also like to complete a round of edits on my prequel. If I'm doing really well this month, I'd like to throw a round of edits for Book 1 in there as well, but I think that might be pushing it.

Those are my goals for this month. That's where I'm currently sitting at with my work in progress. Now, I've got to get some writing done. I'll see you all next week! I'm attempting to write a blog post every Friday.

Have a bright and colorful day! Keep writing!
